Milton Keynes City Council has approved a funding package to deliver Love Wolverton, the regeneration of the former Agora site in Wolverton town centre, marking an important milestone for a project that has been a local priority for many years.

The decision allows the scheme to move into construction, following planning permission in 2021, with work expected to begin in May 2026. John Graham Construction Ltd has been appointed to deliver the project.

TOWN is working in partnership with the Council to deliver the regeneration of the long-vacant site, which will bring 115 new homes to the heart of Wolverton while restoring part of the town’s historic street pattern. The design reinstates Radcliffe Street, an important historic route through the town centre, and introduces new pedestrian-friendly streets and a pocket park that will provide shared green space for residents and visitors.

The development will include a mix of one and two-bedroom apartments alongside two, three and four-bedroom houses. One block will provide 29 homes for Still Green, a cohousing community for people aged over 50. The remaining homes will be delivered as high-quality rental homes.

Still Green will be the first cohousing community in Milton Keynes. Residents will have their own homes alongside shared spaces, including a common house for cooking, shared meals and social activities, as well as a communal garden. The model supports independence while creating opportunities for neighbours to support one another and build strong social connections.

Alongside new homes, the scheme will introduce modern retail spaces designed to attract independent shops and cafés at key corners of the development. Sustainable transport options will include a car club, bike hire facilities and an upgraded bus stop, all within walking distance of Wolverton railway station.

Homes across the development will be built to high standards, with airtight construction to reduce energy demand and mechanical ventilation with heat recovery to maintain fresh air while retaining warmth. Most homes will be dual-aspect and exceed Nationally Described Space Standards, providing bright, spacious homes with good natural light and ventilation.

“Still Green is delighted that the cohousing community we have worked towards for so long is now going ahead and grateful to TOWN and Milton Keynes City Council for enabling this to happen. We are excited by the opportunities for Wolverton as the town centre is regenerated and look forward to living in its midst.”
