Cohousing Open Days for Westwick Row and The Hive.
Share
Over the past few weeks, we’ve welcomed new people to two of our emerging cohousing communities: Westwick Row in Leverstock Green, Hemel Hempstead and The Hive at Northstowe, Cambridgeshire.
Open days are a big part of how we develop cohousing at TOWN. They’re a chance to visit the place, meet people who might become neighbours, ask questions and start to imagine what living there could actually be like.
Cohousing is still unfamiliar to lots of people, so meeting in person helps to demystify what it is and how it works. It gives us a chance to talk through some of the benefits, answer the practical questions and get people talking to each other.

Westwick Row Cohousing Open Day.
Our most recent Westwick Row open day took place at the end of September.
We’re developing Westwick Row with The Crown Estate, creating 75 new homes in Leverstock Green. At its heart will be an intergenerational cohousing community of 31 homes, arranged around a shared garden and Common House.
At the open day, people interested in joining the community could meet the TOWN team, hear more about the homes and plans, share lunch and meet one another. There was plenty to talk about: what happens in a Common House, how much residents are expected to share, what it means to live in an intergenerational community and how the management of the spared spaces can work.
The next Westwick Row open day will be on Saturday 14th November at 10am in Leverstock Green Primary School. You can reserve your place using the button below.
The Hive Cohousing Open Day.
At Northstowe, we welcomed people interested in The Hive, one of two cohousing communities that will sit side by side within our new neighbourhood.
The Hive will have around 44 homes. Its members are already beginning to build the relationships and make the decisions that will shape the place they eventually call home. The open day gave people who are curious about joining the chance to meet existing members, visit the site and find out what’s involved.
This is how the emerging cohousing group describe their vision for the community:
“At The Hive we are creating a vibrant multi-generational community where everyone has the opportunity to thrive. By sharing resources, skills and amenities we are building a co-operative and sustainable way of living rooted in respect for each other and our environment.”
The next open day for The Hive Cohousing is taking place on Saturday 10th October at 10.30am at Northstowe Secondary College. You can book your place below.
