Positive community consultation at Westwick Row.

In July, we welcomed over 40 people to our final consultation event for Westwick Row before the planning application is submitted in autumn 2025.

The exhibition, held in Leverstock Green Primary School – adjacent to the site, showed how the proposals for this new neighbourhood have evolved in response to feedback from local people over the past year.

Westwick Row is a five-acre site on the edge of Leverstock Green in Hemel Hempstead, identified for new homes in Dacorum Borough Council’s emerging Local Plan. TOWN, working with The Crown Estate and a design team led by Periscope, has been developing a masterplan for around 80 new homes, including a cohousing community.

As with all of our projects, our approach to Westwick Row is shaped by a belief that places are better when they are designed with the people who live nearby and those who may one day live there. Over the past year, we’ve worked with a wide mix of local voices: a Renters’ Panel, neighbours, future residents of the cohousing community, and a demographically representative Ideas Exchange group who helped us test key decisions about layout and landscape.

This event was an opportunity to share how their input has shaped the scheme and to check in with residents on the detail before the planning submission. It was especially encouraging to hear that many neighbours feel they have been listened to throughout our engagement process.
